Aftra expands in Sweden, bridging the gap between compliance and exposure with NIC partnership.
"The future of cybersecurity lies in connecting business risk with technical reality."
- Björn Orri Guðmundsson, CEO Aftra
As part of our continued growth in the Nordics, Aftra is expanding its partner network with Swedish compliance and information security company NIC (Nordic Information Control). This collaboration marks an important step in strengthening how organizations address compliance, information security, and real-world cyber risk in the face of increasing threats and regulatory demands.
A shared perspective on modern security
NIC operates at the intersection of compliance, information security and data governance. Their platform is designed to help organizations gain control over their information through continuous monitoring, automated classification, and structured compliance management.
At a time when regulations like NIS2, DORA, and GDPR are raising the bar, many companies still rely on manual processes and fragmented tools. NIC takes a different approach by enabling continuous compliance, giving companies an always up-to-date view of their data, risks, and regulatory alignment.
This shift reflects a broader change in the market. Compliance is no longer a one-time exercise, it is an ongoing operational challenge that requires real visibility and control.
Organizations today are facing growing challenges when it comes to compliance and information security. The sheer volume of data makes it increasingly difficult to maintain control, especially as information is copied, moved, and stored across systems without clear oversight. Many of them also struggle with so-called dark data, unmanaged, and often unknown copies of sensitive information.
At the same time, the pace of change across threats, regulations, and technology, including AI, makes it harder to keep up. Adding to this complexity is a fragmented supplier landscape, where many solutions address only a small part of the overall challenge.
“Maintaining control over all information is becoming one of the biggest challenges organizations face today.” Peter Bostrom, CEO NIC

Stronger together
This partnership brings together two complementary perspectives.
NIC focuses on internal control, helping companies understand, classify, and govern their data and documents in line with regulatory requirements. Aftra complements this by providing visibility into the external attack surface, identifying how organizations are exposed from an attacker’s point of view.
Aftra equips security teams with automated asset discovery, real-time vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring, while turning cyber threats into business clarity for executives. This ensures a seamless flow of information from the technical layer to leadership, enabling faster and more informed decision-making.
Together, NIC and Aftra meet the new reality organizations face by creating a more complete foundation for managing cyber risk:
- Understanding what data exists and how it is handled
- Identifying compliance gaps and internal risks
- Mapping how those risks could be exploited externally and remediate
“Aftra and NIC operate in the same space with a similar strategic direction, but from different angles and solving different parts of the challenge. By combining our capabilities, we are able to address a much larger portion of the overall problem organizations face today." -Peter Bostrom, CEO NIC
Looking ahead
As compliance and information security continue to converge, companies need solutions that go beyond checklists and provide real, actionable insight.
By combining NIC’s approach to automated compliance with Aftra’s attack surface management capabilities, we are taking a step in that direction.
"We believe the future of cybersecurity lies in connecting business risk with technical reality. Partnering with NIC allows us to bridge that gap, combining information security and compliance insight with real-world exposure."
-Björn Orri Guðmundsson, CEO Aftra
We look forward to what this partnership will bring. Stay tuned.
