Our story

The Aftra story

Aftra began as a passion project amongst a team of cybersecurity experts at Syndis, an Icelandic cybersecurity firm in which they initially automated the work process of their penetration testers into a software solution. This led to them identifying a big gap in the way security was tackled in the market and that many companies don’t fully understand their digital weak spots – making it nearly impossible to successfully protect their assets. They also discovered that there was no other solution available that fully and effectively solves that problem.

So they built Aftra, a software solution based on hacker methodology. Aftra helps organizations map out and understand their digital footprint in order to spot potential vulnerabilities that hackers could exploit – enabling them to fix those weak spots before they get hacked. In other words, we show companies what a hacker sees.

The Aftra solution offers a wide scope of Attack Surface Management (ASM) through dynamic external and internal vulnerability detection, scanning, and monitoring. We don’t just flag vulnerabilities, we hand managers the reins to make security a business-wide objective. We challenge the idea that security is complex; it isn’t. We simplify cybersecurity, making it actionable for managers to understand it and take responsibility through KPIs.
